Capacity Building
FAT’s involvement with women and technology also sees us conducting capacity-building workshops and trainings for fellow NGO’s and other organizations that work with women and technology at the grassroots level. Though technology and computer-related hardware and software are now a part of most urban-centred NGOs, employees and managers alike are often not equipped to use these aids creatively to benefit their workspace.
Leveraging the skills of our in-house technical team and contributors from like-minded initiatives, FAT works directly with employees on topics starting from technology assessment to information management, open source migration and training, database management and many other less-articulated needs of the workspace today.
We also provide comprehensive training and services in the following areas:
- Website creation
- Online writing/marketing
- Non-profit technology training
- Technology assessment
- Technology vis a vis mission-vision-outreach
- Budgeting for technology, planning for future
- Database/hardware/information management/ownership of online property
We also take workshops on the theme of gender sensitization for women, another area that is in increasing focus as greater numbers of women join formal office and work spaces. We believe that with some grounding and intervention women can make their own work areas more secure and safe spaces to work in.
Previously we have conducted workshops in the following areas:
- Understanding on issues of feminism, patriarchy, and basic gender concepts.
- Gender issues within the institution and outside the institution.
- Greater awareness on sexual harassment at work place.
- Law around sexual harassment, the legal framework.
- Gender sensitive redressal mechanism within institution.
- Gender roles within the institution, gender division of labour, at work and home.
Do contact us at projects@fat-net.org if you would like to participate or contribute to our workshops in any way.
