FAT organized a national consultation on Women's Movement & Technology in Delhi. Over two days, 40 participants from 27 women's groups and organisations listened to experienced activists with diverse perspectives, shared their own experiences and discussed challenges and ideas that they could work towards collectively in order to change the current skewed picture of women and girls and Science & Technology in the country.

Action plans that came out of the consultaion are:
- An e-group would be created for individuals and groups who were present and for those who could not participate, but were interested in the issues being raised.
- Almost all groups felt that more capacity building on the issue of women and S&T was needed before they could start chalking up actual strategies.
- Each group would try and access and share the S&T policies and protocols of their particular state. FAT would access national-level policies and send it out on email.
- A smaller committee would be formed in Delhi to look at these policies with a gender lens. It would draw up guidelines that would help organisations from other states comment on their respective state policies.
- To take these discussions to other places, FAT is planning regional consultations across the country in collaboration with other organisations. The first regional consultation would be in partnership with Point of View, Mumbai, in December 2011. Participants would be invited from Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan.
At the national consultation on Women's Movement and Technology, almost all participating groups felt that more capacity building on the issue of Women and Science & Technology was needed before they could start chalking up actual strategies. As a followup to the consultation, we have created a mailing list that we will all use to discuss the issues further and work collectively to plan our course of action on science and technology. If you would also like to join this list, please send us an email to projects@fat-net.org with the subject "Add me to Women and Technology list". We have also started a collective bibliography to share resources on women in science and technology. Click here to access the bibliography and add to it as well.
