Enrollment of women in engineering has been less than 1% of total till 1960s; it rose to 8.3% by the mid 1990s and in 2000 it has come to 16.2% (Kumar, 2007).
Of the 25-30% women employed by IT sector, less than a tenth are in middle management, while a tiny 5% occupy senior-level positions. (IMRB Intl)

Regional Consultation on “Women and Science & Technology: Partnering for Change”

We organized the first regional consultation on "Women and Science & Technology" in Mumbai in partnership with Point of View (Mumbai) on 15th and 16th of December 2011. The regional consultation was a follow up of the National Consultation on Women's Movement & Technology held on October 2011, in New Delhi. Around 50 participants from varied background participated in this 2 day event.

The consultation was spread over 6 sessions: Science & Tech for Empowerment; Reproductive Health and Technology; Disability and Technology; Women in Sceince and Tech; Women's Sexuality and Technology; and Internet, Activism and Rights.
