Enrollment of women in engineering has been less than 1% of total till 1960s; it rose to 8.3% by the mid 1990s and in 2000 it has come to 16.2% (Kumar, 2007).
Of the 25-30% women employed by IT sector, less than a tenth are in middle management, while a tiny 5% occupy senior-level positions. (IMRB Intl)

Workshop on "Social Media and Online Campaigns for non-profits"


21st - 23rd December, 2009, New Delhi

This 3-day workshop was attended by 17 participants from various parts of the country, which included Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jamshedpur, Patna, Ranchi, Bangalore, and New Delhi. The participants represented organisations working on diverse issues, from child sexual abuse to maximising employment to serve the handicapped, from working with the youth in remote parts of the country to doing policy research. Lisa Hodges, who works for Joint Leap Technologies and volunteers for FAT, was the main facilitator of the workshop. Besides her, Pramada Menon, a queer feminist activist from Delhi, and Sanjukta Basu, who works with Breakthrough on the Bell Bajao Campaign, facilitated some special sessions.
