Enrollment of women in engineering has been less than 1% of total till 1960s; it rose to 8.3% by the mid 1990s and in 2000 it has come to 16.2% (Kumar, 2007).
Of the 25-30% women employed by IT sector, less than a tenth are in middle management, while a tiny 5% occupy senior-level positions. (IMRB Intl)

Workshop on "Understanding How Websites Work"

This was a one-day workshop attended by women from different organizations based in New Delhi, Lucknow and Vadodara. The objective of the workshop was to equip women in the development sector with the basic understanding of how websites work and what are the different technicalities one ought to keep in mind while developing a website for one's organization.

An overview of different website technologies was presented to the participants and some tips to maintain their own websites were also given. There were a few hands-on sessions on HTML coding, HTML editing tools and some CMS's. The workshop was facilitated by Gayatri Buragohain.
