FAT conducted a workshop on the basics of website designing in Bhopal from 16th to 19th June 2008. Muskaan, an NGO in Bhopal, organized this 4-day workshop for a group of girls between the age group 16 to 20 staying in hostels managed by Muskaan and learning computers at the Muskaan Centre. All the girls were from the Gondi tribe of Madhya Pradesh living in the Ganganagar basti of Bhopal.
The girls had basic knowledge of computers and some skills on desktop publishing, photo editing and using the Internet. After having developed the basic skills on computers, the girls wanted to learn website designing and work on a website for Muskaan. At this point FAT stepped in to conduct this workshop for the girls.
The goal of the workshop was to introduce the girls to the basic concepts of designing websites, hence it was decided that a basic HTML website will be made. In the 4 days of workshop, the girls were given an introduction to websites, servers, domain names, hosting, html coding and using web-authoring tools. They also used their photo editing skills to create banners and icons for the website. The Muskaan staff prepared the website architecture and a website for Muskaan was developed within the workshop duration. Once the content of the website is ready, the girls will put the content into the website and the website will be made available at www.muskaan.org.
